Hora and Hand: The Dynamic Duo

Rachel was in a slump. The young physiotherapist’s dedication to work and devotion to clients had created a flourishing business.

“I was the first to arrive at the office and the last to leave—now I couldn’t care less,” she confided. “Since breaking up with my boyfriend nothing matters to me. I barely have the energy to get out of bed--I’m totally drained.”

A destiny line ending at the heart line is a double-edged sword. While the heart line provides the emotional energy that drives us to pursue our life’s purpose, our emotions can also sidetrack us—entangling us in self-absorbing personal dramas that deplete our energy, erode our focus and destroy our motivation.

In Rachel’s case, she’d attached her career accomplishments—and self-worth—to romantic relationships. When the relationship ended, she lost her zest for life and fell into a listless state of inertia.

I always carefully examine the termination point of the destiny line, checking if other lines have become blocks requiring repair or fine-tuning. Rachel’s heart line was long, denoting a desire to share her life with someone. But it was also straight (not ideally rounded), denoting over-attachment and a tendency to place heavy expectations and demands on partners.
