2025: The Year Ahead

To help you better navigate the year ahead, Guylaine has drawn up a chart for the New Year forecasting the likely trends we will see in 2025 and how to make themost of them.

A year filled with positive potential!

The New Year rolled in auspiciously at the stroke of midnight on January 1st with a Virgo ascendant. Virgo, being a perfectionist, is sure to remind us of all the things we want to change, improve and perfect in ourselves—be it in our habits, our thinking, our behaviour or our personality. So, if we want to experience personal growth and transformation in our life, 2025 is an excellent year to do so!

One hurdle, however, is due to the fact that the Lord of Virgo, Mercury, is in the sign of Scorpio, ruled by Mars the warrior in the 3rd house of communication. Scorpio is the eighth sign of the zodiac and natural ruler of the 8th house of hidden treasures and transformational experiences. So, depending on how we use Scorpio energy, either we will stop at nothing to find the secrets of life's biggest questions, including our place in the universe, or with its detective-like nature, make us prone to distrust, anger and harsh speech, potentially damaging our relationships.

What’s more, the Lord of Scorpio, Mars, is in the fortunate 11th house. In Vedic astrology, the 11th house is known as the Labha Bhava, or “the house of gains”, which doesn’t just mean financial gain—it includes our accomplishments and the fulfillment of our hopes, wishes and dreams. The key to reaping the full benefit of the 11th house is how we choose to use our Scorpio energy—to introspect and transform ourselves or be critical and angry.

Furthermore, in order to derive the most benefit from the 11th house requires effort as Mars is in the emotional sign of Cancer, which can rob Mars of its power if we are overly thin-skinned and take things too personally. Positive affirmations can help us in that regard, for example, Paramahansa Yogananda’s affirmation: As I radiate love and goodwill to others, I will open the channel for God's love to come to me. Divine love is the magnet that draws to me all good.

If we are unclear about who we are and unable to define our hopes and dreams, we may feel tossed and turned, overwhelmed by the demands and stresses of daily life, unable to enjoy the benefits of the 11th house. And even if we have definite goals and dreams, it is important to not give up before we even get started and to persist long enough to see things get better.

Don’t overlook the energy of Luna (Moon) and the power of Pluto.

Getting the best out of the 11th house requires us to be attuned to the energy of the Moon, as it is sitting in the 5th house of love and creativity, looking directly at the 11th house. What’s more, the sensitive Moon is sitting with profound, intense and life-altering Pluto. This combination promotes a very strong mind with the capacity to organize, plan and visualize success for the future. Pluto, related to Lord Shiva, demands that we go deep within ourselves to explore what is truly meaningful to us. We will not miss this opportunity if we can remain peaceful, productive and kind while setting aside some time for meditation and self-reflection.

However, if we use the Moon’s sensitive energy to be subjective, then the Moon, together with Pluto, can be explosive; it can disrupt our feelings of love, creativity and the harmony in our relationships.

How do we remain positive and productive throughout the year? Jupiter is the key to our success.

Jupiter, the most benefic planet in the zodiac, is sitting in the 9th house, the luckiest house of the chart. Sitting here, Jupiter helps us focus on all the good in our life. Studies have shown that after 10 weeks of keeping a journal, those who wrote about gratitude were more optimistic and felt better about their lives. Surprisingly, they also exercised more and had fewer visits to physicians than those who focused on sources of aggravation.

Additionally, Jupiter makes an aspect on the 1st house of our personality, which fills us with both confidence and magnanimity. Jupiter also aspects the 5th house, filling our heart with peace and love, even when life gets difficult.

Venus working with Saturn: The icing on the cosmic cake.

Venus, related to joie de vivre, is sitting with Saturn, the taskmaster, in the 6th house of health, a placement reminding us of the importance of taking good physical care of ourselves by eating well, getting plenty of exercise and sleep, and using our body as a vehicle to live our passion and embrace the joy of being alive!
